Professor Justin Schlosberg

Justin Schlosberg is a prominent advocate for human rights within media landscapes, focusing on how concentrated media power can suppress diverse voices and undermine democratic principles. His research scrutinises the hidden alliances between platform monopolies, content producers, and state interests, all of which can obscure the truth and limit public access to unbiased information. With a foundation in both creative work and activism, Schlosberg has dedicated his career to fighting for media structures that respect transparency and integrity, supporting a media environment that serves public interest and upholds human rights. As former Chair of the Media Reform Coalition and co-founder of the Institute for Journalism and Social Change, he has been instrumental in shaping policy discussions around media ownership and disinformation. Schlosberg’s work has been presented to governments in the UK, US, and Europe, with coverage by news outlets including the BBC and Al Jazeera, highlighting the urgency of his advocacy for human rights in media reform.
